Marlene Haus and Sanford “Cookie” Danovitz were interviewed by historian Aliza Becker for a collection of oral histories made possible by The Rauh Center for Jewish History at the Heinz History Center. The project is called “Meanings of October 27.”
Their stories will be included with approximately 100 others representing the diversity of the community. The project is meant to assist with the healing process following the horrible tragedy at Tree of Life Synagogue on October 27, 2018.
Marlene’s story is particularly relevant because, years ago, she helped to conduct similar interviews for the National Council of Jewish Women documenting how members of the Jewish community came to Pittsburgh. That collection is now available through the Hillman Library
