April is National Move More Month—get up and get active!
Physical activity is good for our hearts. The American Heart Association projects that cardiovascular disease could cost Americans over $1 trillion by 2035. However, an estimated 90% of heart disease cases worldwide could be prevented by healthier lifestyle choices, such as eating a nutritious diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking.
Physical activity strengthens your heart muscle and improves the body’s ability to pump blood throughout the body. It also lowers risk factors for coronary heart disease by reducing blood pressure, improving cholesterol levels, decreasing the risk of obesity and more! Physical activity supports overall heart function, reducing your risk of a heart attack.
Adding just 30 minutes of physical activity into your daily routine is highly beneficial for your health. Walking is a simple, cost-free option that is particularly effective in reducing stress and improving overall well-being.
For individuals with heart disease who may find walking challenging, the JAA Home Health Department can offer supportive therapy services specifically designed to help you safely and effectively regain mobility.
If you have recently been diagnosed with heart disease or are facing complications, our Telehealth program can assist you in your recovery with remote support. Additionally, we provide regular home visits from a qualified nurse to ensure you receive the care and support you need on your journey to better health.
